Barnes & Nobel Book Drive
Barnes & Noble Bookstores held a book drive to benefit Clark County READS'
Book Re-Use Program. More than 4,000 brand new books were collected,
which are sorted and distributed to new teachers in the Clark County
School District. Teachers can use these books in their classrooms, or
give them to students to take home. Thank you, Barnes & Noble!

Clark County READS and Ronald McDonald House Charities Partner to Fight Illiteracy

On Thursday, November 17th, $25,000 worth of new library books were added to the library of Fremont Middle School. Las Vegas magician and comedian Mac King entertained the audience with magic and comedy, and discussed the fun of reading! 9:00am, Fremont Middle School, 1100 East St. Louis Avenue. Librarian Barbara Shapiro says: "The students at Fremont were overwhelmed with the books and kept asking me if I was selling them and the cost. I explained that these books were now ours and were available for check-out. They were very pleased. I heard comments like, "I love these books" and "Can you believe these are our books?" The best comment, however, belongs to one of my aides who told me the books were "bittersweet" for him. When I asked why, he explained that, while he loved the books, he had to reshelf them! Thanks so much for making such a positive event in these students' lives possible."
